Green Eyed Monster

I’ll admit it. I sometimes suffer from beauty envy. If you are not familiar with this affliction, it simply means you experience pangs of jealousy when you see someone sporting your particular beauty obsession/fixation. My beauty envy is serious; I experience it whenever I see someone with beautifully styled hair. As you can imagine, I suffer from beauty envy quite a bit. As a self professed “hair slacker” I do not possess the skills necessary to style my hair.  Like at all. So when I see a girl sporting a braid, chignon, or blowout (whether it’s professional or not) the green eyed monster rears its ugly head.  I also feel envious when I see someone with a flawless, natural looking spray tan. I practice what I preach and wear sunscreen everyday, 24/7/365 therefore I am pale as larvae. I see a gorgeous sunless tan, and I want one myself, immediately, if not sooner. To date, there is no known cure for beauty envy. Thus, I will continue to look longingly at girls with killer fishbone braids, and golden sunless tans.*le sigh* until my next hair/spray tan appointment of course…

I have to ask-let’s discuss this openly. What’s the source of your beauty envy? Is it a particular look, service, or talent?

Hahahaha “Pale as larvae.” I die. The source of my jealousy is anyone with hair longer than mine, styled or not. I’m in the beginning stages of growing mine out after having it short for years, so there’s a whole lot of ugly going on on top of my head.

    Hahaha. I love this, Bre.

I soooooo have beauty envy. I covet moisturized lips that can wear a dark color or lipstick without looking all line-ish and wrinkly and dead.

I am constantly applying high end chap sticks from Sephora. But I am also constantly licking it off. What is my problem? Am I hungry? Get a snack, Dfest.

As for hair styles, I’m experimenting with the sock bun tonight because I totally covet high, full hair buns.

People with gorgeous, flawless skin! I have ridiculously sensitive/combination skin which is always in battle with my dermatologist and I. Thankfully all my other features I wouldn’t change for the world, but AHHH.

    Bre-
It is a shame that we never fully appreciate are great qualities (superficial or otherwise) as much as we focus on our bad ones. I think all females have the beauty envy, unfortunately. Mine is anyone with clear, gorgeous skin. I’m getting better at it, so now I make sure I just compliment the person (so at least one of us feels better + they may not realize their own great beauty quality), and I move on.
