When I was planning my trip to California my list of must-do’s was pretty simple, and a blowout at Dry Bar was on the top of my list. I’m all about priorities. Dry Bar specializes in blowouts only, no cuts, no color, no kidding, for only $35 a pop. Genius, no? My friend and thick hair partner in crime, Kayle, was quick to join me in this endeavor so I booked our appointments online and away we went.
The Dry Bar was even more fantastic than I thought it would be. The décor was bright and cheerful and the staff was beyond welcoming and friendly. While I felt for my stylist Dustin {ironically the same name as my regular stylist} knowing he had his work cut out for him, he was a dream to work with, and happily answered my endless questions. FYI Dry Bar uses Living Proof and the L’Oreal Professional line of products and Bio-Ionic flat irons and curling irons. There was a place to charge my phone and iPod, hang my purse, and a chick flick was always on rotation, I truly felt pampered. I enjoyed a blissful shampoo and sipped champagne sitting at the “bar” while watching Easy A on the flat screen. I chose the Cosmopolitan {loose curls} from my list of menu options and was assured by Dustin that later that night it would transform into the Mai Tai {messy and beachy}. He was right, alas; I don’t have a picture of his amazing creation. I blame the Absinthe Fairy at the Edison.
As my hair was being blown out to perfection, I looked around the busy salon; everyone was happy, smiling, and leaving with beautiful, flowing hair. I could definitely get used to this was all I kept thinking. If I lived in the LA area I would undoubtedly become a “barfly” and frequent Dry Bar for special occasions and utilize it as a great way to combat a crappy day. Let’s face it, if our hair looks good we feel good, its really that simple, and I definitely left feeling all the more fabulous. Dry Bar is expanding its locations so if you’re going to be on the west coast-or you already live there-lucky-promise me you’ll pay them a visit. Us East Coast girls don’t have to wait long, a NYC location is due to arrive in July. Cheers!
Have you ever been to Dry Bar? Ever popped into a salon just for a pick me up blowout?

I’ve never heard of it before but this is pretty awesome. I don’t know if I could do it very often though.

@KiKi Mere is visiting! I’m so jealous! The Southern Comfort is a whole lotta volume, you know, very Jessica Simpson. The higher the hair the closer to Jesus!
