Try It Buy It: Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel

Winter may not officially be here, but my winter pale skin has certainly made its debut. There are a few among us who can rock the porcelain look, exhibit A and exhibit B. I, on the other hand, cannot. To combat my pale pallor I reach for self tanners. Over the years I have collected quite a few. A tried and true favorite being Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel. This self tanner is, in a word, fantastic. It’s a gel, and can be used for your face and body. It won’t clog your pores or cause breakouts so it’s perfect for oily or sensitive skin types. It absorbs instantly and if you are a fan of self tanning {and you really should be} you know that this is a huge deal. With some self tanners you’re forced to do them at night before bed or place yourself under house arrest while it dries. This self tanner goes on clear and melts perfectly into the skin. This makes for even absorption and no streaks. The smell is pleasant and I love that I am tan in two hours. Yes you read that correctly, tan in two hours! I also love that I can put it on in the morning and wear it under my makeup. How many self tanners let you do that? Not many. The color is golden and natural looking every time, no one will know it came from a tube. DHA and erythrulose is used to achieve a natural, brown tanned color. The color lasts for a week and fades evenly. It gets voted best self tanner in countless magazines and online polls for a reason, the proof is in the pudding. If you want a safe and golden glow to accompany your holiday parties this year, definitely check out Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel. As for me, I am going to take advantage of my Sephora coupon and stock up.

Have you tried this self tanner?

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. This review really comes in handy. I’ve been using the Channel Précision self-tanner for sometime and though I love it, the smell is so bad that it gives me a headache everytime I put it on. So, next time I’ll give I try on the Clarins self-tanning gel. Sounds like the perfect one!

I’m not a fan of tanning.. sun OR artificial! It’s the Asian in me.

@Elaine Well you are one of the lucky few who can rock the porcelain pale! Pale on me = pink. Not cute. Have you ever tried any self tanners before?

I realize this is a delayed reaction, but I had to let you know that (like all of your posts) this is so helpful. I am a Sephora addict myself and on a recent shopping spree, I bought Dior self tanner/bronzer. It smells lovely, but does NOT get the job done. I look a little orange and streaky. So disappointing.

I can’t wait to try Clarins! Thank you!

Thanks for the comment Danielle! I’ve never tried Dior’s self tanners before. Thank you for saving me from the disappointment (and orange streaks!). I think you will love Clarins self tanners. Their pricier, but so worth it for a natural looking, golden tan. Xen-Tan is also an incredible line worth trying. Stay tuned for upcoming self tanning posts!
