I normally don’t watch the Sy Fy channel. Science fiction is not really my cup of tea; I’m one of those oddities that have never seen Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. I will tune in tonight at 10 however. For the premiere of Face Off, a competition/elimination series delving into the world of special-effects makeup artists and how these artists create living works of art. Makeup can go far beyond traditional beauty makeup, and I love the transformation that prosthetic, latex, sculpting, eye enhancers, casting, and molding provides. Ever since I was a little girl, I loved the magic of makeup. From my early love of lipstick to multiple viewings of Thriller, I knew what I wanted to do when I grew up. I couldn’t be more excited for this new series, showcasing the limitless creativity and imagination these artists possess. Judging them throughout the competition is three-time Academy Award winner Ve Neill {Edward Scissorhands, Beetle Juice, and Pirates of the Caribbean} and Hollywood veterans Glenn Hetrick {Legion, CSI: New York, Heroes, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer} and Patrick Tatopoulos {Independence Day, Godzilla, and Underworld}. The winner of the competition will receive a year’s supply of Alcone makeup and $100,000 to kick start their career in Hollywood.
Will you be tuning into Face Off?

I was totally thinking of checking that ‘Face Off’ out tonight too! BTW I’ve never seen Star Wars or the Lord of the Rings trilogy either, it’s amazing there is someone else on the planet like me!! But I do occasionally watch the Sy Fy channel. I’m a sucker for Ghost Hunters sometimes, and my new favorite is ‘Being Human’ which just started 2 weeks ago.
By the way Breanna, I love the pics of your work. You do beautiful makeup, I especially loved the pics from Ali Schmids wedding (I think I’m a fan of the fresh natural look).
Keep up the great work! I enjoy reading your blogs!
