New York. Don’t you just love it? I know I do. The city has an energy like no other. Being that close to that many fantastic restaurants, extravagant stores, and amazing architecture and landmarks makes me giddy. So you can imagine how I felt attending my first IFB conference at the Hudson Hotel.
I didn’t have many expectations, but the fabulous outfits certainly did not disappoint. Everyone in attendance was dressed to the nines, I don’t think I’ve ever looked at the ground more {and I’m including timeouts in elementary school here} so as to fully appreciate the heel situation. Nary a flat in sight. Everyone was clacking their manicured fingers over their laptops and furiously tweeting throughout the day. A word on Twitter, I now have it and you can follow me here!
The day was a mixture of speeches followed by audience Q & A complete with a live mic and traveling spotlight for the lucky audience member. Alas, dear readers, yours truly was not one of the brave souls. I feared public humiliation and a hot mic. The speakers were energetic, some more prepared than others to give a talk about successful blogging, each with their own distinctive style and personality.
The day was a whirlwind of activity but the highlight of my trip was having lunch al fresco with my boyfriend…
and meeting Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere…
Meeting may be putting it mildly, more like interrupted her and proceeded to ramble on like a Justin Bieber fan. Thankfully, she was lovely and sweet. Her speech was by far the most informative, eloquent, and organized, and my personal favorite. I love people who have such great accomplishments and let you figure out on your own what those are.
All in all the conference was fun and informative. Plus, it was cool to be around so many people passionate about blogging. Would I go to the one in February? Maybe. If I can find a chic, yet supportive and comfortable seat cushion.

Love the reference to timeout and l.o.v.e. your bag! Sadly I cannot wear heels (flats are my forte), but I envy those who can and I, too, would be checking people out left and right (and trying not to look creepy in doing so).
Also- have you been to the buzzing center of DC? I highly recommend.
