Drink your vegetables. Drink your fruits too while you’re at it. Juicing, juice cleanses and fasts have become popular again. This normally would give me enough reason to dislike it, if this “trend” wasn’t so delicious and good for me. The health benefits of juicing are innumerable. The good news is you don’t need to be a celebrity to enjoy juicing. You don’t even need a juicer. You can use your regular blender, a strainer, and you’re all set. Juicing is a great way to get your daily recommended serving of fruits and vegetables {see food pyramid above} in one foul swoop. So drink up, and drink to your health.
Here’s a recipe for one of my favorite juices, its called the Green Juice {clever huh?} Use the freshest ingredients possible, organic would be ideal. Eyeball the ingredients, do the greens first and then follow up with the fruits to yield the most juice. It tastes like a grassy lemonade and I love it!
-1 apple
-1 lemon
-kale
-spinach
-parsley
-chard
-slice of ginger
Juicing comes in handy for me right now because I am not eating really clean at the moment. This week is the 156th annual Bloomsburg Fair. Suffice to say I have been eating with reckless abandon. Juicing is the one healthy thing I am giving my body this week, unless you consider deep fried Reese’s Peanut Butter cups a protein. If so, you may have a lot in common with this guy.

chard as in swiss chard…ewww i’d rather eat dessert! lol!
