Lip Shtick

I like to think that I have seen it all when it comes to makeup and skincare gadgets, with puzzling products such as this and this. When I stumbled across this invention from Alcone Company I had a genuine WTH moment.

This Lipstamp Kit promises a perfect pout every time. The kit comes with a rubber stamp gizmo, 10 shapes of stamps; the idea being you choose the shape that you want, apply your favorite lipstick to it, and press it to your lips. The problem being, if the stamps don’t match your own lip shape, you risk having your lipstick look costumey, or under your nose or chin, not exactly a natural look. I thought this was perhaps marketed for those who are inept at lipstick application, because remove cap, twist up, and smooth over can be tricky stuff [insert eye roll here]. Upon further investigation I learned that it’s “great for cheerleaders, dance troupes, and bridal parties who want the same lip shape.” In all my years of doing wedding makeup, I can safely attest to the fact that I have never had a bride who insisted the bridesmaids all have the same lip shape. Same hair, same dress, but never the same lip shape {this could be my public jinx}.

I think it’s safe to assume that this product isn’t flying off the shelves. It could be potentially useful for Halloween makeup {the kit contains a stamp that looks like Betty Boop} and you could always use it as a lip stamp for sending fun, tongue-in-cheek cards and letters. As for me, I’m an old fashioned girl, I think I’ll pass on this gizmo.

What do you think? Genius or superfluous?

  1. What a weird gadget! I don’t think these things are for me neither. I just don’t see myself stamping my lips with this (I’ve just pictured myself looking like a clown), especially when you can achieve it manually. It’s always nice to know what’s out there, because you never know :)

    that is absurd.

Superfluous. Haha! To the max. It almost seems like something that would come in a toy beauty kit for children. Cute, but pointless. XO

  5. Elaine says:

Yeah, I can see it as a “toy” for little girls and for Halloween…

It seems there is no end to the dumbing down era. Now you don’t even need to know how to use a lipstick, you just need a stamp.

As for wanting the same lip shape….air hostesses all over the skies are waiting for their male boss to tell them not only do they need the same hair style and uniform and lip colour, it must be the same shape as well!

  7. This is a joke right???

@Erica haha I know right? Alcone is such a well respected makeup company too, I seriously think someone missed the mark with this contraption!
