Save Your Money: L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara

I really wanted to like this mascara. What’s not to like? Eva Longoria in the advertisements, shiny gold packaging appealing to my girly must have been a squirrel in a past life nature. I love L’Oreal Voluminous original formula; it’s one of my favorite mascaras and the one I always use on my clients. I was particularly interested in this mascara because of its innovative clean wiper system. When you pull the mascara wand from the tube, a shelf in the tube chamber wipes the excess mascara from the wand for less, if any, clumps. I bought this mascara in Blackest Black with high hopes. Let me preface by saying I am not a fan of plastic wand applicators, I prefer a brush with bristles for volumizing and thickening lashes. I think the plastic wands are good for lengthening, but I prefer a lush lash look {try saying that three times fast}. The clean wiper system did work, and I hope other mascaras come out with a similar mechanism, but if mascara clumps are a problem for you, which is often the case when it comes to a brand new tube, try wiping the wand down first with these. When I applied the mascara I noticed the formula was very thin, and my lashes didn’t appear any more full {mostly lengthened} and the formula was not very dark. Having brown with blonde at the tip lashes, this was disappointing. I also noticed an odd smell, almost a floral perfumey scent with this new formula. The smell dissipated quickly but it was still a peculiar experience. The mascara held up pretty ok, but I noticed it coming off in eye irritating grey tubes as the day wore on, much like blinc mascara {another mascara I’m not  a fan of}. The verdict? Save your money, stick to what works, and keep an eye out for more mascaras adopting a similar clean wiping system.

  6. Don’t you just hate when you shell out the money for a beauty product and it’s not that great. I have the same issue needing the thickener, but not lengthener. They hit my eyelids. ;) Thanks for stopping by my blog. Have a great day!
