I really cannot stress the importance of retinols enough. Retinol, a vitamin A derivative, has been proven to stimulate cell turnover and increase collagen production. Retinol is the anti-aging ingredient that has the most well-documented science behind it. It truly is a game changer and ALL skin types and ages can benefit from a retinol product. This is my solemn vow to you: you do not have to sit back and accept changes to your skin just because you are getting older-there is so much you can do! Retinol products are just one such way to turn back the clock.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream is a terrific, inexpensive drugstore option and a wonderful introduction into the world of retinols. Like all retinol products, it is used at night (sun exposure causes retinol to break down) on clean, bare skin. A pearl sized amount is all that is needed, and it blends evenly and easily into the skin. It’s a lightweight and fragrance free formula. Vitamin E moisturizes and softens the skin, while retinol exfoliates and stimulates collagen production to help lessen the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots.
Remember that any anti-aging product you apply to your face needs to be carried down to your neck as well. Retinol products require some patience and diligence, after about fifty seven days of nightly use; you will notice a visible difference in the tone and texture of your skin. Fine lines and creases will be lessened, and age spots will be diminished. One immediate side effect to using this cream at night is the dewy, plumped up, moisturized glow your skin will have in the morning.
Before starting a retinol product, I encourage you to snap a simple before picture of your clean, bare skin. After fifty seven days of nightly use, snap another picture to see the visible improvements. This is a beautiful product and one I recommend to all my skincare consultation clients that are not yet using a retinol. As with all retinol products it is never too early, or late to start reaping the innumerable benefits.

Do you currently use Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream? Will you try it?

Didn’t know this about Retinols…cell turnover and increase collagen production…good to know! I’ll have to integrate this into my regime:)

I have a reader request, miss Bre. Can you do a post on skincare that is a) pregnancy/breast feeding friendly and b) cruelty free? It is next to impossible to find a good product that covers these two bases! Which is why I wear California Baby on my face. Not doing anything for the wrinkles, I’m sure, but it doesn’t clog pores and it has an SPF.

I actually stopped using Retinol products so that I could get my eyebrows waxed, hehe. They wouldn’t do my eyebrows because I was using retinol products. Guess I should start again though
