SUPER Foods

An apple a day keeps the plastic surgeon away? {Image from pixelperfectdigital.com}

With Thanksgiving just days away I am more preoccupied with food than usual. I can’t wait to enjoy fluffy mashed potatoes, sweet glazed carrots, and juicy turkey, white meat only {say what you will-more for me}. I am also very excited that famed celebrity dermatologist Dr. Nicholas Perricone has come out with SUPER, a line of skincare that takes the best of superfoods and couples it with the best of skin care science. Superfoods are foods that contain high levels of photonutrients; they are antioxidant rich and can improve the health and vitality of our bodies. When these ingredients are derived and used in topical skincare they also improve the health of our skin and how it reacts to aging and environmental, oxidative stress. We all know that we are what we eat, as seen here. We recognize the importance of a healthy, well balanced diet {just what you wanted to read before Thanksgiving, I know} and the profound effects it can have on our skin. Dr. Perricone has taken these most potent ingredients and formulated it into effective skin care for the face and body and aimed it at the 25-35 set. A critical time when proper skincare is so important. Skin is a reflection of our body’s health. Through an anti-inflammatory diet, nutritional supplements, and highly effective topical treatments, Dr. Perricone believes that inflammation can be controlled, which delays aging and rejuvenates skin to look its very best. Here are a few of my favorite products from the SUPER line:

Super Hand & Cuticle Cream with Yogurt- OK now this is really cool. This uses yogurt probiotics, which has been found to stimulate collagen production, leaving you with younger looking hands. This non greasy cream used lactic acid to exfoliate and high levels of Vitamin C to brighten the skin and protect it with antioxidants.

Super Acne Treatment with Green Apple- Apples contain an unique ingredient, quercetin, which research has found to be a powerful flavonoid that helps calm redness while fighting blemishes and breakouts. A potent acne fighter that actually helps reduce sensitivity and irritation? I’m sold.

Super Bright Eyed with Melon- This eye treatment does it all, it hydrates, primes, and de-puffs. Harnessing the power of cartenoids, which are only found in melons, this strong antioxidant protects the skin from UV damage. It reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles leaving the eyes looking impossibly fresh.

Super Hyper Hydrator with Coconut Water- This lightweight facial moisturizer absorbs quickly into the skin. Using potassium enriched coconut water; it delivers hydration and minerals to your dry, depleted skin. It helps your skin retain moisture and improves skin barrier function with continued use.

Bon appétit!
